By Rishabh Gupta, founder of ROAS Expert. Last updated 19 October 2026.

For most SaaS marketing sites in 2026 the answer is simple. Pick Framer if a designer or founder will edit the site and you want it live this month. Pick Webflow if a content team will run a blog, resource hub and localized pages for years. Pick Next.js only when the site needs application logic, auth, docs with live code, or has to sit inside the product. The rest of this post is the detail behind that rule, with current prices from the official pricing pages.

In short

- Framer if a founder or designer edits the site and it has to be live this month
- Webflow if a content team will run a blog, resource hub and localized pages for years
- Next.js only when the site needs auth, product data, docs with live code or has to sit inside the product
- Subscriptions are a rounding error over three years. People time is the cost

**20,000**CMS items on Webflow Premium, against 2,500 on Framer Proofficial pricing pages, October 2026

**$900**three years of Webflow Premium for a 30-page siteFramer Pro about $1,080, Vercel Pro about $720 plus a CMS and a developer

## What each one is

Framer is a design tool that publishes websites, with CMS, localization, forms and analytics built in. Webflow is a visual site builder with a stronger CMS, a separate Editor for content people and a mature app ecosystem. Next.js is a React framework, not a builder: you write code, deploy it (usually to Vercel) and pick a headless CMS. Total freedom, total responsibility.

## Who edits the site every week

This is the question that decides most of the others. If the weekly editor is a founder or designer, Framer wins. The canvas is the page, and there's nothing between an idea and a published change.

**The decision rule**

**Who edits the site next Tuesday?**

**A founder or designer**under 150 pages, live this month

Framer

**A content team**hundreds of pages, several languages

Webflow

**A developer, and the site needs**auth, product data or code samples

Next.js

Everything else in this post is detail behind these three branches. Don't pick Next.js for a brochure site because engineers prefer it.

If the weekly editor is a content marketer who never opens the design canvas, Webflow's Editor and CMS roles are built for that person. They edit text, images and collection items without being able to break the layout.

If the weekly editor is a developer, Next.js is fine. If marketing has to file tickets for every change, Next.js becomes a bottleneck within a quarter, however good the headless CMS is.

## Design freedom and animation

Framer is the strongest of the three for motion. Scroll effects, hover states and page transitions are first-class, and designers who know Figma pick it up in a day. Webflow can do nearly everything Framer can, but interactions take longer to build and more care to keep fast. Next.js can do anything, but every animation is engineering time.

## CMS and programmatic pages

At the time of writing, Framer's [pricing page](https://www.framer.com/pricing/) lists Basic with 2 CMS collections, 1,000 items and 30 pages, and Pro with 10 collections, 2,500 items and 150 pages, with paid add-ons beyond that (for example $20 per extra 10,000 items, up to 40,000). That's enough for a blog, a changelog and customer stories. It's not enough for 5,000 integration pages.

Webflow changed its plans on 13 May 2026, according to [nocode.tech's report](https://www.nocode.tech/article/webflow-just-overhauled-its-pricing-what-agencies-and-freelancers-need-to-know), folding the old CMS and Business plans into one Premium plan. At the time of writing, Webflow's [pricing page](https://webflow.com/pricing) lists Premium at $25 a month billed yearly with 20,000 CMS items and 40 collections. That's the clear winner for programmatic SEO among the builders.

Next.js has no ceiling. If your programmatic pages come from your own database (every integration, template or customer), rendering them from product data is the one thing the builders can't match.

Framer sells add-ons beyond Pro, for example $20 per extra 10,000 items up to 40,000. Next.js has no ceiling because the CMS is yours to choose. Source: Framer and Webflow pricing pages, October 2026.

## SEO and AI crawler readability

The question to ask in 2026 is: does the HTML arrive complete without running JavaScript? Search engines render JS eventually. Many AI crawlers don't render it at all, so a page that is empty until scripts run is invisible to them. We covered this in [our AI visibility guide for SaaS](https://roasexpert.com/blog/ai-visibility-for-saas-and-ai-startups).

Framer's [own glossary](https://www.framer.com/dictionary/server-side-rendering) states "Framer uses server-side rendering for optimal performance and SEO," so page text is in the HTML. Its [SEO feature page](https://framer.com/features/seo-performance) lists auto-generated sitemaps and robots.txt, automatic 301s when you move pages, canonical URLs, per-page meta from CMS fields and JSON-LD support.

Webflow publishes complete HTML pages from hosting its [hosting page](https://webflow.com/hosting) describes as AWS paired with Cloudflare's CDN. Meta, canonical, schema via custom code, redirects and sitemaps are all editable. It's the most predictable of the three for crawlers.

Next.js gives you whatever you build. The [Next.js docs](https://nextjs.org/docs/app/getting-started/server-and-client-components) explain that layouts and pages are Server Components by default, rendered to HTML on the server. Done well it's the best crawler experience available. Done badly, with everything marked as a client component, it's the worst. Check view source, not the demo.

## Speed

All three can hit good Core Web Vitals. Framer and Webflow do most of the work for you. Next.js on Vercel is as fast as your developers make it. On every platform the usual culprit is third-party scripts, so audit your tag manager before you blame the builder.

## Localization

At the time of writing, Framer's pricing page lists localization as an add-on at $20 per locale per month, up to 20 locales. Webflow's pricing page lists Localize Essential at $9 a month and Localize Advanced at $29 a month, both priced by number of locales, with 10,000 and 50,000 AI translation words a month respectively. Webflow's [localization page](https://webflow.com/localization) describes subdirectory URLs, localized meta titles and an auto-generated sitemap with hreflang, which is what you want for SEO.

Next.js has i18n routing built in, but translation workflow, review and hreflang are yours to build or buy. For a site going to five languages with a content team, Webflow is the easiest path.

## Integrations: HubSpot, forms, analytics, consent

Framer has a built-in HubSpot form component (paste your portal and form ID, per [Framer's help article](https://www.framer.com/help/articles/how-to-add-hubspot-forms-to-your-website/)), native forms, built-in analytics and custom code slots for GA4, consent banners and chat. Webflow has native forms, a HubSpot app, custom code and a large app marketplace. Next.js integrates with anything, but every tag, form and consent script is code someone maintains.

For paid traffic, both builders let marketers duplicate and test landing pages without a release, which matters more than any single integration. See [our landing page guide](https://roasexpert.com/blog/landing-pages-for-paid-traffic).

## Cost over three years for a 30-page site

Subscription cost only, using the prices on each pricing page at the time of writing, yearly billing, one site, no localization:

- Framer Pro at $30 a month (Basic caps at 30 pages, so a growing site needs Pro): about $1,080 over three years.
- Webflow Premium at $25 a month: about $900 over three years. Add a Workspace plan if you need extra seats or code export, which the pricing page lists from $19 a month for Core, and seats at $39 a month for full seats.
- Next.js on Vercel Pro at $20 a month per developer seat (Hobby is for non-commercial use, per [Vercel's pricing page](https://vercel.com/pricing)): about $720 over three years for one seat, plus a headless CMS, plus developer time.

The subscriptions are a rounding error. The real cost is people. A Next.js site needs an engineer for every change a marketer could make themselves in a builder, and over three years that's the number that matters.

**Three years of subscription for a 30-page site, yearly billing**

$0$500$1,000 Framer Pro: $1,080 $1,080Framer Pro Webflow Premium: $900 $900Webflow Premium Vercel Pro, one seat: $720 $720Vercel Pro, one seat

Vercel's figure excludes a headless CMS and every hour of developer time, which is where the real three-year cost sits. Source: Framer, Webflow and Vercel pricing pages, October 2026.

## Migration risk and lock-in

Framer's [help centre](https://www.framer.com/help/articles/can-i-export-my-website-to-html-and-self-host-it/) states plainly: "Framer does not offer HTML export for self-hosting." If you leave, you rebuild. Webflow's [code export article](https://help.webflow.com/hc/en-us/articles/33961386739347) says you can export HTML, CSS, JS and images on a Workspace plan, but CMS content comes out separately as CSV, forms stop working and only the primary locale is exported. A head start, not a lift and shift. Next.js is your code in your repo.

## When Next.js wins

Choose Next.js when the site needs things a builder can't do: logged-in states, pricing calculators tied to real plan data, docs with runnable code and versioning, pages generated from product data, or a shared domain and design system with the app. Developer-tool companies almost always end up here. Everyone else usually doesn't need to.

## Comparison table

| Criterion | Framer | Webflow | Next.js on Vercel |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Weekly editor | Founder or designer | Content marketer | Developer |
| Design and motion | Best | Very good, slower to build | Anything, all coded |
| CMS scale (listed plan limits) | 2,500 items on Pro, add-ons to 40,000 | 20,000 items on Premium | No limit, bring a CMS |
| Server-rendered HTML | Yes, per Framer | Yes | Yes by default, if built right |
| Localization | $20 per locale per month add-on | Localize from $9 a month | Build or buy |
| Code export | No | Static files, no CMS or forms | It's your code |
| Three-year subscription, 30 pages | About $1,080 | About $900 | About $720 plus CMS and dev time |
| Best for | Seed-stage, fast launches | Content-led growth | App-level logic, docs |

## The decision rule

Ask who edits the site next Tuesday. If it's a non-developer and the site is under 150 pages, Framer. If it's a content team or the site will pass a few hundred pages or several languages, Webflow. If the answer involves auth, product data or code samples, Next.js. Don't pick Next.js for a brochure site because engineers prefer it.

## Three scenarios

**Seed-stage AI startup: Framer**

- You will rewrite positioning three times this year
- The founder should be able to change it at midnight
- Pro plan, a blog collection, a form, move on

**Series A SaaS with a content team: Webflow**

- Premium plan, Editor seats for the writers
- Localize when you open a second market
- A programmatic template for integration or comparison pages

**Developer-tool company with docs: Next.js**

- Docs and anything touching the product
- Marketing pages can stay in Next.js or live in Framer on a subdomain
- Either is fine as long as the HTML is complete without JS

## How to do it: a 30-minute check before you commit

*Check 01***Name the weekly editor**

Write down who will make changes each week, by name.

*Check 02***Count the pages**

For the next two years, including programmatic pages and languages.

*Check 03***View source on a live site**

Open a real site on the platform and confirm the body text is in the HTML.

*Check 04***List the integrations**

CRM, forms, analytics, consent, chat.

*Check 05***Price the plan you would actually need**

Not the cheapest one, from the official pricing page.

*Check 06***Decide what leaving looks like**

In two years. Is that acceptable?

## Where ROAS Expert fits

We build SaaS marketing sites in Framer, Webflow and Next.js, and we'll tell you which one you don't need. Our [web development](https://roasexpert.com/web-development) work starts with that decision, our [pricing](https://roasexpert.com/pricing) is public, and a [site audit](https://roasexpert.com/audit) will show you whether your current site is readable by crawlers and AI assistants before you rebuild anything.

**Not sure which one you don't need?**

A site audit shows whether your current site is readable by crawlers and AI assistants before you rebuild anything, and ends with a platform recommendation you can argue with. From $1,000.

## Questions

### Is Framer or Webflow better for SEO?

Both serve complete HTML and give you control over titles, meta, canonicals, redirects and sitemaps. Webflow's bigger CMS limits make it better for programmatic SEO at scale. For a site under 150 pages the difference is small.

### Can I export my site from Framer?

No. Framer's help centre says it does not offer HTML export for self-hosting. Webflow exports static HTML, CSS and JS on a Workspace plan, but without CMS content, forms or secondary locales.

### Is Next.js overkill for a marketing site?

Usually, yes. It earns its place when the site needs auth, product data, docs with code or a shared design system with the app. For a brochure site it adds a developer to every content change.

### How much does Webflow cost in 2026?

At the time of writing, Webflow's pricing page lists Basic at $15 a month and Premium at $25 a month, billed yearly, with Workspace and Localize add-ons priced separately. Webflow retired its CMS and Business plans in May 2026.

### Can AI assistants read a Framer site?

Framer states its sites are server-side rendered, so page text is in the HTML. Check any specific page with view source, and make sure your robots.txt doesn't block AI crawlers you want.
